The 36th Annual Denver March Powwow.

Photographs Jeremy Wade Shockley/SU DRUM

Coverage for the Southern Ute Drum Newspaper yielded a two page full color powwow spread in our recent issue. Visit the Southern Ute Drum online to view the rest of the photoessay. The Denver March Powwow is spectactular in both size and color, bringing in dancers from accross Indian Country each spring. Denver March is easily Colorado’s largest powwow gathering. These images of dancers were taken during the Grand Entry ceremonies.

Enjoy the photographs! -Jeremy

  1. Mike, Thanks amigo….the color treatment is something I really like, and as for style…well I am always trying to find new ways of looking at or photographing familiar subjects. This practice is especially important working at the Southern Ute Drum, as we are often revisiting annual events- which I feel compelled to show in as unique a way as possible. This is something I do with our readership in mind, but also for my own creative purposes. On a side note…of the four images published here, only the last was published as part of our Denver March issue. These were some of my personal picks!Cheers, Jeremy
